Slate roofing wisdom: "Do it right, do it once"
Headed to Allentown, PA, this morning for a pre-construction meeting. Olde Mohawk was selected from two dozen firms--nationwide--to replace a five-year-old slate roof. "Whoa," you're thinking, "Did he say 'five-year-old' roof? Didn't he mean an historic hundred-and-five-year-old slate roof?"

That's right. Five years young. 18,000 square feet installed incorrectly. You name the action that could be done wrong and you'll find it here.

The original GC put it out to bid and let a roofer do it with NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE.

The job is in new hands now. The GC who completed the construction of the home does things right, and has hired us to redo the roof. Stay tuned for more great pictures.
